Heat Tolerance project
Evaluation of wheat germplasm derived from Indian materials for specific traits of importance to the Australian cropping environment (US00072)
Bread wheat materials developed by crossing Indian diversity with Australia adapted materials were developed under two external projects funded by ACIAR and the Generation Challenge Program. These materials have been tested at the IA Watson Grains Research Centre for tolerance to high temperature at different dates of sowing. The project, funded by GRDC, ultimately aimed to identify genetic variation for heat stress tolerance in wheat that could be used to develop genetic markers for wheat breeders. The phenotypic results are presented for each year.
